Biodata, résumé or CV?
- Biodata
- Government and public-sector posts, many school and hospital jobs, small businesses, and any employer who asks for one by name. It leads with personal details.
- Résumé
- Private companies, startups and anything applied for online. It leads with skills and what you have done, and leaves personal details out.
- CV
- Academic, research and medical posts. Longer, with publications, conferences and teaching.

Never put these on it
- Aadhaar, PAN or passport numbers. An employer asks for these after an offer, on their own form.
- Bank account or UPI details, and any OTP. No genuine employer asks for money or bank details to consider you.
- Caste, religion or a photo, unless the post’s official notice asks for them.
Questions
What is the difference between biodata and a résumé?
A biodata starts with personal details (father’s name, date of birth, marital status, languages) and ends with a signed declaration. A résumé starts with your skills and work and leaves those details out. Send whichever the employer asks for; when they do not say, private companies expect a résumé.
Is this the same as a marriage biodata?
No. This format is for a job application. A marriage biodata lists family, height and horoscope details, which have no place in a job application.
Should I attach a photo to my biodata?
Only if the employer or the official notice asks for one. If they do, use a recent passport-size photo with a plain background, top right.
Biodata format Hindi mein: job ke liye biodata kaise banayein?
Upar diya Word file download kijiye aur har [bracket] mein apni jaankari bhariye: naam, pita ka naam, janm tithi, shiksha, anubhav aur skills. Aadhaar, PAN ya bank details kabhi mat likhiye. Aakhir mein declaration ke neeche jagah, tareekh aur apna naam likhiye.
