Why an ATS reads it cleanly
One column
Software reads a page top to bottom. Two columns get read across, mixing your skills into your education.
Plain section names
Summary, Education, Skills, Projects, Internships. An ATS sorts your résumé by headings it knows.
Real text, no tables or icons
Every line is typed text. Nothing sits in a table cell, a text box or an image, which is where contact details go missing.
A standard font
Calibri in the Word file. Fancy fonts and icon fonts can turn into blanks or boxes.
Questions
Is this template really ATS-friendly?
It follows the layout rules applicant tracking systems read cleanly: one column, standard headings, real text, no tables, images or text boxes. Open the PDF and try selecting the text; every line selects. To check your filled-in version, run it through the free ATS checker.
Word or PDF: which should I download?
Download the Word file to edit it, in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or WPS Office on your phone. Send the finished résumé as a PDF unless the employer asks for Word.
Can I use it for an experienced résumé?
Yes: move Internships above Projects and rename it Experience, and drop Class XII once you have a year of work.
Do I need to sign up to download it?
No. Both files download directly. Signing up is only for the builder, which fills the same layout from your details and scores it against jobs.
Can I make it in Canva instead?
You can, but many Canva résumé designs use two columns, icons and text boxes that applicant tracking systems read poorly. If you use Canva, check that every line of the exported PDF can be selected and copied.
