An “open to work” post people act on
The role you want in the first line, who you are and one result, three skills, where you can work, and one clear ask. Short enough to read on a phone, specific enough to forward.
Three rules
1
The role in the first line
Most people see only the first two lines before “…see more”. If the role is not there, the post is not read as an ask.
2
One result, not adjectives
“Built a dashboard a shop owner uses every week” makes someone think of a team that needs it. “Hardworking and passionate” does not.
3
Ask for something specific
An opening, or someone to talk to. A clear ask gets comments, and comments spread the post further than likes.

Questions people ask
Should I use the green “Open to Work” photo frame?
It is a personal choice. Some recruiters search for it; some people feel it reads as urgent. You can also turn on “Open to work” for recruiters only, which hides it from your current employer’s recruiters on LinkedIn. BananaJobz is not affiliated with LinkedIn.
Is it okay to say I was laid off?
Yes. Layoffs are common and people tend to help. Say it in one plain line, without blame, and move straight to what you do and what you want.
How many roles can I mention?
One, or two close ones (data analyst or business analyst). A list of five reads as “anything”, and nobody knows whom to send you to.
Should I attach my résumé to the post?
No: it puts your phone number and email in front of everyone. Make sure your profile is up to date, and send the résumé to people who reply.
When should I post?
On a weekday morning, when people check LinkedIn before work. Reply to every comment that day; each reply shows the post to more people.
