The order, and why
1. Professional summary
Three lines: title and years, three skills the jobs you want ask for, and your best result. It replaces the objective.
2. Skills
The words recruiters search by, spelled the way job posts spell them. Two short lines, not a table of ratings.
3. Work experience
Newest first, and most of the page. Three or four bullets for your current role, fewer as roles get older.
4. Education
At the end, one line per degree. Marks and Class X–XII go once you have a few years of work.
5. Certifications
Only the ones that matter for the jobs you want.
Turn duties into results
A duty says what the job was. A result says what changed because you did it. Start with the change, then say how.

Take these off
- Career objective: the summary does its job, with proof.
- Photo, date of birth, father’s name, marital status and religion: Indian private employers do not need them, and they invite bias.
- The declaration (“I hereby declare…”) and “references available on request”.
- Class X and XII marks, once you have a few years of work.
- Your CTC and notice period: they belong in your Naukri profile and the conversation, not on the résumé.
Questions
Should an experienced résumé be one page or two?
One page up to about five years of work, two after that if every line earns its place. Never three. A recruiter reads the first page first, so your current role and best results go there.
What is the best résumé format for 2 or 3 years of experience?
This one, on one page: summary, skills, work experience with three or four result-first bullets for your current role, then education. Your internship and college projects can go, unless they are the only proof of a skill the job asks for.
How do I show a career gap?
Leave the dates honest and, if the gap is longer than a few months, add one line in its place: “Career break: caring for a parent” or “Career break: completed a data analytics course”. Interviewers ask about unexplained gaps; explained ones rarely matter.
Should I change my résumé for each job?
Change the summary and the skills line to match each posting, using only skills you have, and move your most relevant bullets up. The structure stays. Tailoring is what BananaJobz does for each job automatically, without adding anything that is not already true.
Can I open the template on my phone?
Yes. The Word file opens in the free WPS Office, Microsoft Word and Google Docs apps. Save it as a PDF before you send it.
