Job application tracker template
Nine columns, one row per application, and a dated next step on every open one. Free for Excel and Google Sheets.
The columns
- Company
- Who the application is with.
- Role
- The exact title from the posting, so you can find it again.
- Link
- The posting itself; they often disappear, so save a copy of the text too.
- Applied on
- The date, so you know when to follow up.
- Résumé version
- Which tailored résumé you sent, so the interview matches it.
- Contact
- The recruiter or referrer, if you have one.
- Stage
- Applied, Screening, Interview, Offer, Rejected or Withdrawn.
- Next step
- What happens next and when: “Follow up on 14 Nov”, “Round 2 on Tue”.
- Notes
- Anything to remember: questions asked, salary range, who you met.
How to use it
1
One row per application
Add it the day you apply, with the link and the résumé version you sent.
2
Always a next step
Every open row has a dated next step. Sort by it each morning; that is your to-do list.
3
Close rows honestly
Rejected and Withdrawn are useful: over a month they show which kinds of roles answer you.
